Queriscope is operated by Visiontale Studio Inc. ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the Queriscope platform (the "Service").

We are committed to complying with applicable privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) in Canada, the California Consumer Privacy Act / California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA) in the United States, and the Federal Trade Commission Act (FTC Act).

Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. We store a unique user identifier linked to your account.

2.2 Payment Information

When you pledge to fund a research proposal, your payment card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe. We never receive, store, or have access to your full card number.

2.3 User-Generated Content

We store research proposals you submit, comments you post, and votes you cast. This content is associated with your user identifier and displayed publicly on the platform.

2.4 Automatically Collected Information

We collect standard web analytics data including IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring URLs via PostHog, a product analytics platform. Analytics events are proxied through our own domain (a.queriscope.com) before being forwarded to PostHog's servers. When you are signed in, analytics events are associated with your user identifier.

How We Use Your Information

To provide and operate the Service, including processing pledges and managing proposals
To authenticate your identity and maintain account security
To communicate with you about your account, pledges, and proposals
To enforce our Terms of Service and prevent fraud or abuse
To improve and optimize the Service

Third-Party Processors

We share your information with the following third-party service providers:

Supabase Auth — Authentication and session management. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
Stripe — Payment processing. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Supabase — Database hosting and backend infrastructure (separate from auth above). See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
PostHog — Product analytics. We proxy events through our own domain before forwarding to PostHog. PostHog may receive your IP address and usage data. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.
Google Ads — Conversion tracking only. When you complete a pledge, a conversion event is sent to Google to measure advertising effectiveness. See Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data. Contact us at privacy@visiontale.studio to exercise these rights.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use the following cookies and browser storage:

Authentication cookies — Set by Supabase Auth to maintain your login session. These are strictly necessary for the Service to function.
Analytics cookies — Set by PostHog to distinguish returning visitors and persist analytics session state. These help us understand how the Service is used.

We also use localStorage to persist your theme preference (dark/light mode), your selected display currency, and a one-time age verification flag.

We do not use advertising targeting cookies. Google Ads conversion tracking fires a single event on pledge completion via the Google Tag (gtag) but does not set persistent advertising cookies on our domain.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS), row-level security policies on our database, and secure authentication via Supabase Auth.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice on the Service.
